What is the best free favicon maker?

A good favicon maker takes your logo and hands back every size browsers and devices need, plus the HTML to wire it up. This free tool does that: upload a logo, get six PNG sizes (16–512 px), and copy the snippet — all in your browser with nothing uploaded.

How can I create a favicon online from my logo?

Upload your logo to the "Logo or image" box and run the tool. It resamples your image to the standard favicon sizes — 16, 32, and 48 px for browser tabs, 180 px for Apple touch icons, and 192/512 px for Android — then gives you the preview and the ready-to-paste HTML snippet.

How do I convert a PNG to a favicon?

Upload the PNG to the tool above. It draws your image scaled to each favicon size on a canvas and exports PNG icons — 16, 32, 48, 180, 192, and 512 px — with and apple-touch-icon tags. Save each PNG using the snippet's file names and paste the tags into your page .

Does this ico generator make a .ico file?

No — this tool outputs PNG icons, not a .ico container. All modern browsers accept PNG favicons through the sizes attribute on tags, which the generated snippet uses. You only need a legacy .ico file if you must support very old browsers.

How do I add an apple touch icon to my website?

Save the generated 180×180 PNG as apple-touch-icon-180x180.png (the file name the tool uses) next to your site files, then paste the snippet's line into your page . iOS uses it for home-screen bookmarks.

What favicon sizes should I include?

Include 16, 32, and 48 px PNGs for browser tabs and shortcuts (from the favicon.ico spec), 180 px for Apple touch icons, and 192/512 px for Android Chrome — this six-size set comes from the itgalaxy/favicons platform spec and covers tabs, bookmarks, and home screens.

What is Favicon generator?

Favicon Generator — Make a favicon online from any logo or photo — this free favicon generator creates 16–512 px PNG icons plus ready-to-paste HTML tags, all in your browser.

The six-icon size set comes from the itgalaxy/favicons specification (MIT), vendored at vendor/favicons: favicon.ico sizes 16, 32, 48 from src/platforms/favicons.ts, the 180×180 apple-touch-icon from src/platforms/appleIcon.ts, and the 192×192 / 512×512 android-chrome icons from src/platforms/android.ts. The vendored library itself is Node/sharp-based and cannot run in a browser, so pixel resampling runs here through the platform <canvas> API: the uploaded image is drawn scaled to each spec size and exported as a PNG data URL. Honest limits: no .ico container is produced — the snippet's <link rel="icon" sizes="..."> tags point at PNGs, which all modern browsers accept as favicons; sizes larger than the source are upscaled by the browser's resampler and can look soft, so a 1024 px+ source gives the crispest icons; the on-page preview is the 180×180 PNG.

Good to know

Generation runs entirely in your browser — your image is never uploaded anywhere; scripted or server-side runs get a message saying so.
Output is PNG only — no .ico container is produced. Modern browsers accept PNG favicons via the sizes attribute; .ico is only needed for very old browsers.
Sizes larger than your source image are upscaled and can look soft — upload a 1024 px+ source for crisp results.
Non-square images are letterboxed (fit, not cropped) onto square transparent canvases so the whole logo stays visible.
The preview shown is the 180×180 icon; the snippet lists the file names to save each generated size under.

How it works
